A LONG AWAITED HOUSE UPDATE.

Its been a while since I have given an update. We are almost done. FINALLY!!!!! We got carpet in this week and have very few things left.

The only things left are: hang a mirror and light in the guest bathroom, get the gas hooked up, and pass the final inspection.
We closed on the house with the bank on friday. Its a good but scary feeling. I cannot wait to be done. We are hoping to get our occupancy permit in about a week. (Nov. 10)

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE PHOTO GALLERY I POSTED A BUNCH OF NEW PICS. I CREATED A NEW FOLDER TO MAKE THEM EASIER TO VIEW. (GW AND BRITT HOUSE 2).

I feel that I need to apologize for missing Steve's B-day. I can't believe I let it pass me by. I don't mean to pass blame or anything on how I could forget, but I am pretty sure it was because of all the monkeys.

A Visitor at the House

We had a little friend enemy visit us at the house the other day. He decided that he didn't want to be outside in the cold anymore and figured he would coil up and take a nap on the mat just outside the door inside the garage.

He was quite the surprise when we noticed him. I guess he is lucky we both have a common enemy (the rattle snake) or else he would probably no longer be with us. I would have been forced to make my world renowned king snake stew. And we all know how tasty a nice stew can be. I also considered cutting the tail off and showing it to Lori with hopes that she would be as appreciative as when I gave her the deer tail.

After careful consideration, I decided since he hates the rattler as much as I do he could be released back into the wild, on probation of course. If he breaks his parole though it is into the stew with him.

You may have noticed that all of the comments on recent articles have disappeared. I think the website admin was doing some maintenance on the Database and accidentally deleted them. I hear he is pretty sorry and will try not to do that again in the future. Let's all be nice and not be too hard on him.

A Quick House Update

Its been awhile since I have given an update so I thought I would take a second and let everyone know where we are at. Unfortunatly I am working down in Mesquite and my camera is at home so I cannot upload any progress photos.

The last couple weeks have been frustrating to say the least. It has been very difficult to get people to come and do some of the things needed. We finally got far enough on cabinets that I am able to move forward while the cabinet guy finishes his thing (There were some issues). The tile and countertop guys have been great. They have both been prompt and working on their part since I called them. The tile guys just have to come and grout a few things and seal the tile. The countertop guys have two more pieces to put down and then some backsplash.

I am currently waiting for the painter to come and finish his part. This is currently our BIG hold up. He has been difficult to find and I am a little worried I might not see him. If I can get him in there we should be able to close toward the end of the month.

The concrete around the house has been poured and we are just waiting to get the stain and clear coat put on it. Unfortunatly the cement truck broke a couple of the sidewalk squares during the poor. I just found out that we are responsible for getting them fixed and will not pass final inspection until its done. Great news hu. Let me tell you I was excited.

My buddy Tyler was there on saturday hooking up the water heater and softner. As soon as the painting is done he will put in the toilets and the remainder of the finish plumbing (I will help were he will let and show me how). I am very impressed with the quality of his work and greatly appreciate his help. A week ago me and my dad were able to finish the rockwork along the bottom of the house. If feels good to have that job done and out of the way.

If we can somehow get the painting done we should be able to finish the rest rather quickly. Me and my dad can then finish hanging lights, mirrors, shower door, and door knobs. We can also get the carpet guy in and that should be about it.

There are a couple miscellaneous things left such as: blinds, door stops, rugs. But these can be done after closing.

Thats pretty much how the last couple weeks have gone. I will be very relieved and excited to move in. Building a house has been one heck of learning experience for me.

Talk to you all later. I guess I have some work to do down here.

I have been thinking about practicing my conservation work privately for quite a while, but I've decided to make it official now. I registered my business name with the State of Utah & they approved it. I am still working on applying for a business license with Tooele City, but that should be done soon. My business will be called "Timeless Textiles: A Preservation and Exhibition Company." Super Terrific BG is working on a website for me, and I'll be printing some business cards soon too. I already have enough work to keep me busy through Christmas, including a job for the State Capital Building. Hopefully things will work out well!

For those of you that haven't heard yet, I broke my foot the other day. Luckily I have connections to get stuff like this checked. I'm not getting a cast or anything but it does kind of hurt.

I found out today that I got the part time job in Radiation Therapy that I interviewed for last week. I will be working every Wed,Thurs, and Friday. I am very excited. It is nice to know that I didn't go to school and pay lots of money for nothing. It is a nice little raise too, which will be helpful for the upcoming house payments.

RSS Section Added To The Site

I have built a new RSS Feed section for the site. It is still new and I will continue to work on it. I put it up so people could enjoy it and have an easy place to keep track of all their RSS Feeds. Feel free to add your favorites to the site so others can enjoy them too.

For those of you unfamiliar with RSS, it stands for Really Simple Syndication. Basically what it does is go to your favorite websites and grab the latest content. Then you can display it all in one spot to make it easy to find the new stuff you want to go look at.
